THe Killigans Live at the Zoo Bar CD

Recorded April 2008, at Lincoln Nebraskas legendary Zoo Bar to apacked house, Killigans Live reveals the band in its truly basicform, spewing fan favorites from their past 2 releases.
The stage is small, dimly lit, and smashed in the back corner of thebar. Band members actually have to dodge people as they make theirway to the bathrooms alongside the stage. The sound is raw, true toform, and unforgiving. If you play it, it will be heard.
This album displays the Killigans comfort with their audience, theirbooze, and their craft. Its not perfect, there are missing lyrics, wrong notes, missed beats, miscues, and run-ins with the crowd, butin all, its an exciting look at the true live Killigans show.

THE POGUES - RS&L - Cliff Notes

From the publisher (and lifted from http://www.pogues.com/):

The Pogues' Rum, Sodomy and the Lashby Jeffrey T. Roesgen

"To listen to Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash is to be taken on a sea voyage with a cast of rabble-rousers, rovers, dreamers, and revolutionaries. Released in 1985 the Pogues' second album seamlessly bounds between oceans and centuries, composing and culling stories of common people; their vices, suffering, and urges; their misadventures and victories. With the vital ode of Celtic folk music and the abandon of punk, the Pogues frame their tales with a spirit that's at once firebrand and solemn. Through the epic imagery gracing the cover to the cast of souls introduced in the songs to the Pogues themselves, Jeff Roesgen's celebration of Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash intertwines a sea-faring fictional narrative with band-informed accounts of the creation of this unique and enduring album.

Jeff Roesgen writes both fiction and about music for tinymixtapes.com. He is working on his first anthology of stories about his young life in Hong Kong. He lives in Cincinnati, Ohio with his wife and two children."

The book is going to be released in November, 2008. Published by Continuum International Publishing Group Ltd.

Black 47 Playing 19th Annual Winter Residency at Connolly’s of Times Square

From UFO Music.....

This holiday season Black 47 will play its 19th annual New York Saturday night residency at Connolly's KLUB 45 in Times Square. Over four Saturdays, plus a performance on New Year's Eve, the band will perform at 10:30pm (9pm doors) on November 15, 22 and December 6, 13, 31 for the recession special of $10. While reprising old favorites like Funky Ceili and James Connolly, the band uses its nights at Connolly's to introduce new songs to the hometown crowd before recording them; included this year will be the riotous Long Lost Tapes of Hendrix and Rosemary, a tribute to slain Civil Rights lawyer, Rosemary Nelson. This year's residency will also be sure to feature songs from the band's critically acclaimed 2008 album, Iraq, which presents a dry-eyed view of life in wartime.
